Description

The great underated dreadnought of Gibsons 'Norlin era'. Idiocyncratically focussed mid-range which saw its DNA in many famous recordings of the late 1970s which saw these guitars sit effortlessly in a mix, particularly around electric instruments. This 45/50 comes to us in good condition but demonstrating some of the (predominantly) aesthetic flaws of the model. The faux 'tortoiseshell' binding shows cracking and shrinkage with a couple of small pieces missing. A small 2cm crack (which is almost always seen on this model, caused by the difference in shrinkage tolerance between the pickguard and the solid spruce top) has been professionally repaired near the edge of the pickguard. Needless to say this flat-top stands as an exceptionally inspiring, vintage voiced dreadnought for dollars almost unheard of from a Gibson. Just take a look as see how Bill Withers made this model work for him! Includes a hardcase. Made in USA, serial number 170693.
