A stunning example of a high sought after model, this 1961 Gibson ES-355 features a cherry finished mahogany semi-hollow body and neck, bound Brazilian rosewood fretboard with block inlays, twin 'PAF' humbucking pickups, Grover 'Patent Pending' tuners, bound celluloid tortoise pickguard, and original hard shell case. This model was original a stereo guitar fitted with a Varitone circuit, this has been professionally converted to a mono circuit enabling it to be used with a standard guitar cable - the original harness is included in the sale. The guitar also originally featured a factory sideways Maestro vibrola, this has been professionally converted to an ABR-1 bridge/stoptail combo and the original vibrato is included with the sale. Condition is excellent overall with subtle lacquer checking across the body, some playwear on the neck, plenty of fret life remaining. Sonically the guitar is impeccable, the PAFs providing the signature clarity and drive that have made them the most sought after pickup in history.
Included is the original hard shell case, please review all photographs as they form part of the description.
