A very rare, very desirable Bass VI from 1964 featuring the original 4-switch design, this guitar has a 3-tone sunburst finish, offset vibrato system, celluloid nitrate tortoiseshell pickguard, 3 single coil pickups, a string mute (currently removed and in case, included with sale), and a Brazilian rosewood fretboard with clay dot inlays. Condition is very good overall for an early 1960s guitar with some playwear evident. There is crazing to the nitrocellulose lacquer consistent with age, some buckle rash on the rear of the guitar, and a relocated strap button has been installed and removed at some point. Functionality is excellent with all pickups working as they should, the sound is unquestionably the classic Bass VI tone with a thick, yet bell-like low end that cuts through a mix and can be used as a baritone to boot.
