The textbook definition of a road warrior, this 1969 Gibson SG has the perfect combination of period features and hard-earned roadwear to make this a player-grade classic. Featuring a mahogany body with worn cherry finish, twin P90 single coil pickups, large ‘batwing’ pickguard, long tenon neck, small headstock, and originally featured a Maestro vibrola (since removed and not included in sale).
Overall the guitar is in good condition, cosmetically there are the usual nicks and dings you would expect from a 1960s instrument that has been gigged, there was also a sticker placed on the top at some point that a previous owner removed using a solvent which reacted with the finish - leaving the ‘watermark’ (pictured). There has also been a headstock break at some point which was professionally repaired. Playability is excellent, the guitar has been setup with D’Addario 10-52 strings and intonates incredibly well. Sonically the guitar tone is superb, achieving everything from ‘Live At Leeds’ to ‘War Pigs’ (and everything in between), harmonics ring out clearly and the P90s will drive any amp to glorious saturation and clean up nicely with a twist of the volume pot.
Included is a hard shell case, please review all photographs as they form part of the description.
