A rare, high-quality example of Japanese guitar craftsmanship from the late 1970s. The MC-500 was the top tier offering in the 'Musician' range featuring active electronics.
The electronics consist of a master volume control, a 3-way pickup selector mounted on the upper horn, a preamp gain (boost/ cut) control, a 3-band EQ (bass, mid and treble), a pair of Tri-sound switches to allow each pickup to be coil split or reverse phase, and an EQ on/off toggle. Ibanez refers to this configuration as the EQ Tone System.
This particular MC-500 has been well-played but still functions perfectly. Some blemishing can be seen in spots throughout the instrument and there is some bubbling to the finish on the headstock (see pictures). This guitar is one of only 138 MC-500s made in 1979 featuring a natural finish!
An incredibly versatile guitar with excellent build quality and a fast action. Includes an older hard case in fair condition.
