c1980s Rockman Smartgate (Made in USA, Original Box)

Tom Scholz was the guitar player and songwriter for Boston, the band responsible for the crazy 70s hit song  'More than a feeling'. Tom had another string to his bow though, he was a crazy inventor who started his own line of gear, Rockman. Their first product was the Powersoak, an early amplifier attenuator, but  it was the Rockman headphone amp that really took the world by storm. Many huge albums were recorded with this little box straight into the desk, rather than using a full blown stack and a mic. (Satriani's 'Surfing with the Alien' and Def Leppard's 'Hysteria' as 2 examples). Rockman headphone amps are fetching crazy money on the used market, but also the Rockman half rack effects are too like this dedicated noise gate, the 'smart gate'. Rare to find one of these, and even rarer to find one of these in this sort of condition and in its original box. Don't see your Marianne walking away, hey, hey.....
