Description

This is a knockout acoustic. The previous owner purchased this in Wellington around 20 years ago...where it was before that, who knows. It looks to be a Tama 3558, and in fact the truss rod cover says Tama..but perhaps an importer of guitars had it rebranded Ray Durant on the headstock and inside label.

With a solid spruce top and Jacaranda back and sides, I won't say this is a Martin killer, but it certainly could maim many a Martin, as, yep, it has a beautiful tone.

Slight belly on the top and sinkage near the soundhole, and the bridge has been shaved to correct the action somewhat. The previous owner said that nothing has moved in the time that he has owned it, so I can't say for sure, but I don't think this is going to get any worse. Plays great in the cowboy chord area, and bearable upwards of that..would certainly benefit from a lighter string gauge or even could quite happily be used as a Nashville tuning studio piece. As Chrissie Hynde says, "never go past the 12th"...and lets face it, that is really a good adage for all guitar players.

Anyways, this is a very special, super sounding guitar, that I hope finds a good, caring home to take it into its twilight years.

Comes with original hardcase.

Made in Japan.
