Description

Here's a particularly special one. It has come to us via the daughter of the original owner of whom used the instrument professionally since 1970 in the Australian pop group The Executives. Provenance aside, you're looking at a very original, late 1960s era custom colour Jazz Bass. In the name of conservatism we've advertised the instrument as a 1968 however keen eyes would pick up features specific to earlier incarnations of the Jazz Bass. The instrument sports a set of 1966 specific 'lollipop' tuners from factory. The neck stamp dates the neck to 1968 (as too does the headstock decal), however internally we've got pots which date to 1966 and pickups to 1967. The serial dates the bass to 1966. The Candy Apple Red finish looks gorgeous and is free of any overspray, touch ups or other funny business. Highly original for a working musicians instrument with only a couple of pickguard screws replaced. Included in the sale is a signed postcard of The Executives from the 1960s, a biographical book written about the band and scans of various newspaper and press clippings with relevance to group. The bass includes a hardcase, albeit unoriginal to the instrument. Surely one of the nicest Jazz Basses on offer in the country. Made in USA, serial number 172473.
