Super cool Wartime era Rickenbacker Lap Steel. I'd imagine this to be around 1943, but having no serial number these are a little hard to be totally accurate with. It has the Rickenbacher name on the headstock, not Rickenbacker...the change to the Rickenbacker name came in late 1946..when having a German sounding surname was somewhat unpopular post war. (funnily enough Adolph Rickenbacher was in fact Swiss, not German)
It has the 1 1/2" horseshoe pickup, bakelite construction, and sounds absolutely incredible. Nicknamed the 'Panda' due to its black and white colour scheme..
Begs the question as to why this model doesn't command really silly prices, it's really quite the piece of history, and was the next model after the famous 'frying pan' lap steel made by Rickenbacher.
It's got a fresh set of strings, serviced and ready to roll.
