Description

1941 Martin 000-18 Pre War (OHSC, USA)

Undoubtedly one of the best kept examples of a pre-war 000-18 in the world. Remarkably for a Martin of this vintage, the instrument maintains its original sheen and lusture. The guitar has been well maintained and in truly excellent condition both functionally and aesthetically. Perfect playability and geometry thanks to an older neck reset and refret.

Classic pairing of a wide grained Adirondack spruce top and Honduran mahogany back and sides. A perfectly balanced, exceptionally even sounding orchestral sized instrument. Tight piano like basses, woody mids, and trebles with a sweetness and clarity. A perfect example of an instrument producing the maturely balanced tone only a vintage scalloped braced Martin can produce.

All of the original hand scalloped braces are intact and solid, the original Brazillian Rosewood bridge has been slotted. The bridge plate is in good condition. No repairs cracks or breaks. The original tortoise pickguard sits flush on all edges. Cosmetic wear is limited to only a few exceptionally minor scuffs and marks from honest use. Under the black light, there are no nasty surprises. The Spruce top has a handful of carefully drop-filled blemishes and evidence of the neck set can be seen. There is no overspray on the guitar.

This Pre-War Martin instrument is truly an heirloom quality instrument and an exceptional time capsule, befitting both the player and collector. The instruments original case is included.
