Description
A true wartime-to-postwar transition J-45 with all the vibe you’d hope for. Big chunky neck that feels great in the hand, sunburst finish with honest playwear, and plenty of scars to tell the story. This is a midrange monster, woody and articulate. Fingerstyle or flatpick, this thing does it all.
As you'd expect for a 1940s survivor, this one has had work. We're talking a replaced bridge, reinforced bridge plate, and multiple cleated repairs to the top, sides, and back. The bridge saddle is low, but it’s still very playable. Lovely piece of Brazilian Rosewood used for the fingerboard of this one, with some stunning contrast to the grain.
Yes, this is a proper 1940s J-45 with huge mojo in the ballpark of modern custom shop money. Please do yourself a favour and get in there before the market adjusts. Simply a killer value proposition for an iconic vintage Gibson flatop.
Includes a late 60s / early 70s Gibson case.
