Description
Well seasoned, sun-drenched, and unapologetically alive.
A sunkissed strummer with decades already baked in, delivering all the mellowed warmth and punchy projection you’d expect from Gibson’s golden era. This slope-shouldered dreadnought features a natural spruce top paired with mahogany back and sides, resulting in a voice that’s both open and articulate—dry in all the right ways, with a touch of sweetness on top.
The round-shoulder body and 24.75" scale make for an easy ride, whether you're fingerpicking folk standards or digging in with a flatpick. The slimmer neck profile, introduced in the early ‘60s, adds comfort without sacrificing the character of its chunkier predecessors. Expect plenty of dynamic range, woody midrange presence, and that signature Gibson thump that doesn’t get lost in the mix.
As evidenced by the patina, this guitar has been a workhorse. The guitar has seen a re-bridge, a replaced bridge plate and a top crack repair (which has been deemed stable for over a decade by the previous owner). The soundboard likely saw some lift around the bridge area in years gone by which prompted the need for repair. While stable and sounding great, the soundboard still bellies at the bridge (see pictures). That won't matter at all if you're actually playing the thing. Oh, and if you're playing the thing on stage, this one comes loaded with an LR baggs pickup to boot.
Whether you’re a player chasing vintage tone or a collector after authentic patina, this J-50 wears its age as it should - honest, earned, and ready for more miles.
