Description
1964. Second year of the square shoulder Southern Jumbo and a lovely one at that. One owner since it was bought new in 1965, kept in honest condition with a beautifully aged burst and a rich, open voice that only a sixties ceramic saddle Gibson can pull off. Strong mid push, warm lows and a woody top that feels broken in the moment you touch it. Lovely full nut width with a very friendly neck profile.
Comes in its original Australian Stamford hardcase, which is a bit of local history in itself. A rare chance to grab a proper early square shoulder SJ with a clean, well documented life.
Serial number 210863.
“Christmas in Southern California was as much an oxymoron as jumbo shrimp.” - Alan Russell
