Description
I'd like to say this is the last gasp of the really great Gibson acoustics..
Yep, I know, I know, it's a square shoulder J-50... which is not everyones cup of tea, but honestly this thing sounds way better than the later Norlin output acoustics.
If I could compare it sound wise to anything, it definitely has that 'Beggars Banquet' Stones sound in spades. Not super, super loud, but very sweet sounding.
It has a couple of useful, necessary minor changes, replaced machine heads, and replaced bridge pins (the originals are included, and are in the case) Frets are hanging in there... could do with a dress sooner or later, or a skirt, or matching pant suit.
Finish crazing all over the body.
I'd be pitching that this one is early '69, no USA stamp, and of course, no volute. Neck is still a 1 piece with a three piece headstock, not the Norlin era 3 piece (with 5 piece headstock)
I guess I'm a little in love with this guitar, I used to have a '69 J-45 that was very similar that I sadly sold to pay one bill or another... (damn). I reckon this would make a more than great running mate for someone, and also a killer songwriting tool...
Yep, it's rough, but it's also ready... just like 'Trigger'.
Pay the ticket, take the ride.
Made in the USA, comes with a hardshell case.
