A true piece of Australian guitar heritage—this original 1971 Maton AX-5 is a rare and beautifully preserved example. Built in limited numbers between 1970 and 1974, this one’s a genuine one-owner instrument, complete with its original Maton hardcase.
Thanks to the Maton archives, we’ve included an image of the original production sheet in the listing—confirming it was first sold to Lamberti Brothers in Melbourne. A nice touch of provenance for collectors who appreciate the backstory.
Before Maton became globally renowned for their acoustics, they were crafting some truly bold and distinctive electrics—and the AX-5 is one of the finest. Jet black finish, ornate headstock, gold hardware, block inlays—pure '70s style with serious presence.
