Description
Throughout the 1960s and 70s Yamaha certainly had some cool, kooky and unique designs in their models. This is a 70s SG-85 Daruma, seldom seen. Made in Japan, serial number 18054. In addition to the famous double cutaway Yamaha SGs like the SG-1000 and 2000, Yamaha made some single cutaway SG’s in the early 1970s, resembling a more rounded Les Paul shape. An example of a single cutaway guitar is the Yamaha SG-85. This was the top of the range of these guitars, that were produced during a short period from 1972-1974 in the run up to the famous SG-175 and the later SG-2000 series. The guitars feature a Honduran Mahogany with a Mahogany set neck. The fretboard is ebony with mother of pearl chevron-style inlays. This guitar was owned by a member of a famous Australian band whos name I can't mention on this platform, but lets just say it rhymes with Ping Blizzard and the Blizzard Blizzard. Made in Japan, comes with original hardshell case...Homer Simpson sticker is a aftermarket upgrade.
