Description
This is an early 70s EB-0. A keen a observer will note it has too many strings. A keener observer will note that it's *really* well done. Sometimes in the execution an idea, you may be faced with a dilemma: I can do this, but should I? Only the most resolute and pure of heart possess the strength of will necessary to beat down such a question, and fly free on the proverbial wax wings directly into the sun. Do or die.
Here we have the evidence of such a decision, and a perfect example of "nothing ventured, nothing gained". It rules.
Absolutely clean as heck conversion work to the point it looks meant to be. Original finish complete with fading on the body, original plastics, original pickup and ashtray remain, but the wraparound bridge/tailpiece and nut have been replaced & recut to convert it into a Bass VI. There's enough room on the headstock of an EB-0 to put two more machine-heads in the middle, so they did. Bish bash bosh, bass VI.
Somehow, it's not even all that top heavy. You do have to hold the neck up a little bit as you play it, but it's a small price to pay for an instrument you're unlikely to ever see again. String spacing is right, scale length feels good, sounds fantastic, probably weighs less than your other guitars. Play Black Sabbath an octave down. Don't be a coward.
