Guild’s flagship dreadnought by the late ’70s, the D-55 was their shot across the bow at Martin’s rosewood heavyweights.
Big spruce top, rosewood back and sides, ornate appointments and enough low-end to flatten a folk club.
It’s been played hard and repaired where needed over the years, including a headstock repair and side crack repair. There’s also some lacquer burn on the face of the headstock from a capo living there a little too long.
Saddle sits on the lower side now, but the guitar still rings out with that dry, mature Guild dreadnought thing that only decades of use seem to produce. Honest wear, honest repairs, still plenty of songs left in it. Includes original Guild hardcase.
