Description

A super clean late 30’s Regal made 14 fret model 37 Dobro.

This was played as a lap steel for the majority of its life, so aside from some wear around the upper F-hole (where the steel has come into contact with the top) there is next to no fret-wear on the original frets.

It has had a recent professional neck set and set up with the action currently sitting at 2.50mm at the 12th fret and the guitar is strung up with D’Addario flat tops 13-56 in open E. Neck relief is sitting at 0.30mm (7th-9th frets) and the neck is straight as an arrow. The original bone nut has been shimmed with a maple veneer.

The tone is exactly what a vintage dobro should sound like, it’s punchy, mid-focused and full, really the quintessential wood body spider cone sound. Records beautifully with a single ribbon mic on it.

There’s no cone buzz or dead spots and the fat V-neck feels exceptionally comfortable in the hand.

Currently fitted with Stew Mac Golden Age machine heads. The original heads are included but reasonably common to tuners of this age the buttons have deteriorated.

Comes with the original pasteboard case.

Made in the USA in the 1930s.
