Description
An early Maton Mastersound with plenty of history under the hood. Originally one of fewer than 300 made between the late ‘50s and early ‘60s, this one has lived a few lives. It's been refinished in black, had the headstock reshaped with a fresh logo (likely after a heel and headstock repair). It has non-original wiring, pickup, pots and pickguard. Weighs in at a light 3.10kgs and fitted with an old Bigsby unit that’s worth a couple of bob.
Call it a refin, a hot-rod project, or keep it intact as a rare piece of Australian guitar history. Whatever your angle, it’s a cool brutalised survivor with a story. A unique and interesting piece for the price of a new mid tier Epiphone from Manny's (I know what I'd prefer to own). Plays great and I guarantee the guy in the band playing after you won't be slinging one.
