Description
Founded by Buegeleisen & Jacobson (a musical instrument distributor based out of NYC) in 1960, Kent guitars existed without an official factory, with models manufactured by Hagstrom in the early days, then Guyatone, with later models manufacured in the Fujigen Gakki, Teisco, Matsumoko & Kawai factories.
This Kent 820 is a stellar example of their classic 60's brilliance, oozing with off-kilter mid-century charm. Some of our favourite features include the clear pickup covers, triple binding (???) and the absolutely insane amount of (synthetic) tortoiseshell present (the headstock, the binding, the pickup mounting rings) - a kitsch masterpiece. Famously played by Lee Ranaldo of Sonic Youth, these guitars have a wildly unique voice and you should come try it!
This particular model has had the original knobs replaced, and the floating bridge has been swapped out for a hardtail - otherwise it's all original and ready to wail.
