This is not a Travis Bean..
I'd like to own a Travis Bean..but finding and affording one are both preventing me from buying one.
I often wonder what some of the employees of Travis Bean did after they left the company...especially one Gary Kramer..did he carry on making great guitars using aluminium, or just fade into the ether.
Yep, well, when Gary Kramer left Bean in 1975 he started Kramer Guitars. Initially he carried on the aluminium neck design, with a tweak. Instead of a solid aluminum neck, it had little inserts, a little friendlier in your hand than cold metal. The body retains the solid exotic timbers that were a Travis Bean hallmark.
Honestly if you had to build a guitar like this today, it would cost an absolutely ridiculous amount. This Kramer has Schaller machine heads, Dimarzio pickups (hence the DMZ in DMZ-2000), exotic woods, aluminium neck, Badass bridge, and a completely over spec'd hardshell case, made in the USA.
This Kramer retains all original parts, is in really and comes in its original case (albeit missing the handle) It is not a Travis Bean, but in my opinion, it's the next best thing.
