Description

Early serial TBD by EGC at ETG, goodness me. Come and see.

If you're a Shellac fan you will undoubtedly have seen a similar guitar in the hands of Albini - that's an O.G. Travis Bean TB500. Kevin Burkett (Electric Guitar Company) is also a Shellac fan, and began machining his own TB style instruments as EGC around 2003 as the prices for originals began to rise. Early EGCs were a mixture of all-aluminium and wood-body guitars, until some time in the mid-2010s Rita and the Travis Bean estate gave EGC the authority to build guitars under the Travis Bean Designs maker's mark. At this point all the TB-inspired instruments split off to be built under TBD rather than as EGC, and this is is one of the earlier of those. That's a fairly short and sweet history, there's a LOT more detail here if you want it, but come have a chat to Brendan for that.

In short: it's built to 100% 70’s 500 "Artist" specs: Billet T6061 aluminium neck, 22-fret 12"-radius 24.75"-scale rosewood FB, Emerald Green Imron paint, MOP block inlays, Schaller tuners, brass nut, matte black 3 ply pickguard, thermax coax cable inside, Sprague caps, CTS pots, switchcraft hardware and TB bridge deck.

Pickups in this case are NOS Travis Bean Garcia pickups from the old JG models, rather than the modern production TBD-wound high output single coils normally found on this model.

Despite the aluminium neck, the whole thing is surprisingly light and comes in under the weight of most "good" LPs. It's also lighter than the 70s TB1000S we've also got around here by a few hundred grams.

Comes in a G&G case, SN 131, weight a princely 3.95kgs
