Guitar Consignment at Echo Tone

Looking to sell your guitar but not in a hurry? Consignment can be a good alternative to selling outright.

Echo Tone offers consignment for selected vintage, collectible and higher-value guitars and basses. We handle the photography, advertising, enquiries and sale of your instrument through our Northcote showroom and online store, reaching customers across Australia and internationally.

Our consignment fee is 20% of the final selling price, with the remaining 80% paid to you once the sale is completed.

How It Works

  1. Get in touch: Send us some photographs and details of your instrument so we can determine whether it's suitable for consignment.

  2. Appraisal and pricing: Bring your instrument into the store for an in-hand appraisal. We'll agree on an asking price based on its condition, originality and current market value.

  3. We handle the sale: Your instrument is photographed, listed online and displayed in our showroom. We manage enquiries, negotiations, payments and shipping.

  4. You get paid: Once the transaction is finalised, we transfer your proceeds directly to your nominated bank account.

Consignment Requirements

  • Minimum instrument value of $2,500.

  • A three-month exclusive consignment period applies. Instruments cannot be advertised privately or elsewhere during this time.

  • Instruments must be reasonably clean and fitted with usable strings. Fees may apply where cleaning or servicing is required.

  • Consigned instruments are insured against theft, fire and breakage to the agreed payout value.

  • We do not currently accept amplifiers or speaker cabinets on consignment.

When Will I Get Paid?

Consignment payouts are processed 7 days after an in-store sale or completed lay-by, or 7 days after confirmed delivery for interstate and international orders.

Payments are made by EFT and generally clear within 2–3 business days.
