Made in England in the same decade as the Mini car was in films with Michael Caine, this is a Burns Split Sonic. Dare I say, this is from the 'Golden Era' of Burns..before Arkansas, before, Baldwin. Nascent British guitar building kinda fascinates me, and it's fair to say, it is no mean feat that Jim Burns was able to draw Hank Marvin away from Fender in the early 60s to make him his very own signature Burns guitar. This Split Sound features fully bespoke parts unique to the brand, and of course, the very fine sounding Split Sound pickups. Shoot, any guitar with a Wild Dog pickup setting has gotta be good. In surprisngly good condition, frets are low and flat but have life left. Plug it in and, you are unlikely to sound like anyone else, and this is of course, a good thing. These early Burns guitars are getting thin on the ground nowadays, and although this one is missing its small logo off the headstock (replacements are available on the internets) there is no mistaking what this thing is.
