Description
An exceedingly uncommon early 60s ES-330 variant. The ES-330T carries a single centre-mounted P-90 which puts it in the same camp as Gibson’s other one-pickup guitars from the late 50s and early 60s. They’re deceptively versatile instruments. The pickup sits in a sweet spot and responds beautifully to the volume and tone controls, moving easily from warm and woody to sharp and cutting.
The cherry finish on this one is exceptional. Deep checking across the body and a particularly rich shade of red that has aged perfectly. It’s a truly striking guitar in the flesh.
There have been a few changes over the years. It now wears mid 60s double line Kluson machine heads and comes in a mid 60s yellow lined Gibson case. The pickup has been out of the instrument at some stage and appears to be mid 60s as well. Underneath the pickup there is an old humbucker route, though it’s completely hidden once the pickup is installed. The guitar has also had a refret. Player grade and such a treat. Perfect '63 neck too!
Icing on the cake? Rare Factory headstock stinger! A very cool and genuinely unusual ES-330 from a super desirable year.
