1964 Burns Split Sound MOD (England, Black/Sunburst, HSC)
Rock and roll Split Sound Burns from around 1964.
Hardcore modded! Read on, don't be scared...
Ok, so, a filthy high output L White Humbucker routed in the bridge position. Tremolo rout bogged, stop tail added and nasty Mustang bridge. Slick blade pickup in the neck position. 3 way switch in the place of the rotary Burns pickup selector. Volume and Tone knobs changed. Top has been refinished in black, roughly. Neck is sporting the original finish..headstock badge is missing. Has had a refret too. Machineheads have been replaced with Tulip Kluson style.
Is it a mess? Depends on how you look at it, technically this thing plays bloody great, and sounds as good as driving a lorry into a corrugated iron fence at 60mph, whilst listening to Sham 69 on the cassette deck.
Maybe that is all you need to know..
....but wait, you want more?
Ok, this guitar comes with an aluminium fitted slim line road case, so it is ready to take, well, anywhere you want to go. Like the barker, spruiking outside the 2 dollar shop would say through a battery powered $50 PA, "you'll still be talking about these bargains, even when you've forgotten what you paid for it"
