Description
This is the earliest SG-3 I have ever seen. In fact it is actually pre SG-3, and was originally given the model code of S-302. From what I can ascertain, this model wasn't available for commercial sale until 1966, making this guitar a very rare bird indeed, with a super low serial number of 321 (First recorded Yamaha serials start at 398) This guitar has a cursive script Yamaha logo, kooky metal bridge, metal nut and no angle on the neck pickup. This model was indeed Yamaha's first electric guitar, taking tips from the Fender Jazzmaster, but still very much its own thing. Great piece of history from a time when surf and instrumental music ruled in the land of the rising sun. This guitar came from a vintage Japanese guitar collector, we have a couple of other pieces too, and this guitar is the most played of all of them..perhaps his favourite? Frets are low and show some pitting, but plug this guitar in and you'll lose time in the most glorious of ways. Made in Japan. SN 0321 Weight: 3.65kgs
