Description

1968 Gibson ES-335.

Beautiful wee thing factory finished in one of Gibson's custom colours - Sparkling Burgundy.

This colour fades and wears in the most lovely of ways... the copper in the pigment oxidises similar to a '50s goldtop and the red softens tastefully... I'm a big fan.

Anyway, the guitar... It retains its original frets, original Patent Sticker humbuckers, and three original potentiometers dating to the 47th week of 1967, with one replacement tone pot.

The stop tailpiece has been added (which makes for a significant improvement to the playability in my opinion), the wiring has been spliced and extended from the pots, and the original nylon nut has been replaced with a bone nut.

There is an older headstock repair with some clear overspray to the headstock face applied at the time.

Housed in a mid-1970s Gibson case.

Serial #970235.

Made in the US of A.
