1969 Gibson SG Standard (USA, Walnut, HSC)

Description

A '69 SG in the very first year of the beaut walnut finish.

A few changes from stock, but an absolutel ripper to play, and as you can see...it has been played...a lot.

Changed pots, and jack, and sporting a set of Gotoh machineheads. The control knobs are repros, and the bridge is a replacement too.

It has a small patch where a coil tap switch once was, and new chrome pickup covers over the original pickups.

No breaks.

Of course it has had a refret..it's near 60 years old.

Sports an early 3 piece neck, and the tiniest hint/nub of thickness where the upcoming volute would be in the following decade.

There is NO USA stamp, that you tend to see later in '69 and beyond on these.

To judge Gibson production as always making changes bang on the start of the year, would be wrong..and really, this guitar is a lovely bit of history hinting at some changes to their instruments that would be made in the 1970s.

If you are in the market, as of the time of writing this we have two 1969 SG's in stock...come and have a play and see which one you prefer. Honestly, they are both damn fine guitars.

From the year of Woodstock...and if I had to bet...probably made around the same time.

Made in the USA, and comes with a period correct, blue lined, leather ended case.
