Description

A killer example of a 70's era Martin, this 1972 D-28 (serial #316495) has just had a quality neck reset in house and is playing beautifully with low, even action. It’s a notably lightweight example for the era, with that dry, open voice you only get from decades of vibration and time.

Solid Sitka spruce top with Indian rosewood back and sides, ebony fingerboard and bridge, and original Grover Rotomatic tuners. The original gloss finish has worn in all the right places, softening to a satin-like feel that’s super comfortable in hand.

There’s been a clean, stable repair to a small crack on the upper bout (bass side shoulder)—professionally handled and structurally sound. The guitar has seen a refret in past too. Original pickguard has been replaced with a quality reproduction due to warping (and is included with the sale for posterity).

If you’re after a vintage D-28 that’s already had the work done, dialed in and is ready for the next chapter, this is your guy.
