1973 Gibson Ripper L-9S (USA, Natural, OHSC)

SOLD!

Description

One of the coolest bass designs to leave Kalamazoo in the ’70s. The L-9S “Ripper” was Gibson’s bold answer to the Fender-dominated market—featuring a maple body and neck, set construction, and a killer pair of humbuckers wired to a rotary selector for wide tonal versatility.

This 1973 example wears its natural finish well, with just enough patina to feel honest but not overcooked. All original down to the bridge and knobs, with a comfortable neck and a punchy, growling tone that holds its own in any mix.

Includes its original Gibson hardshell case, complete with a “Harry Landis” plaque—adding a bit of story to the history.

Made in the USA.
