Description
A seasoned square-shoulder dreadnought from Martin’s golden reissue era. This 1977 HD-28 delivers the rich, balanced tone you'd expect from a vintage herringbone — articulate mids, bold low end, and plenty of headroom.
These early HD-28s are absolute sleepers in the vintage Martin landscape — the first dreadnoughts since 1944 to feature true scalloped bracing. If you're after a 28-style Martin with real age and the livelier feel of lighter bracing, this era hits the mark. Solid Sitka spruce top, Indian rosewood back and sides, and a diamond volute — staying true to the pre-war formula.
Originally fitted with dot inlays, this one now wears tasteful abalone diamonds. Otherwise original. Includes the original blue/green molded Martin hardcase.
Serial 398532. Made in USA.
