Description

The Gretsch Super Axe, definitely a Baldwin owned Gretsch shining moment. Designed by Gretsch legend Duke Kramer with guitar wizz Chet Atkins, it featured 2 Dimarzio pickups as stock, along with 3 effects (powered by a 9V battery, A Phaser, Compressor and Sustain. Sadly, the effects in this one appear to no longer be operational, though, I am sure that someone could bring them back to life. Total trip to play this guitar, somewhere between a solid and a hollow body. A complete joy if I'm being honest...well I dig it anyway. The Gretsch branded Bigsby is a later edition and really suits the guitar. Pots date to 1978. Absolutely stunning ebony fingerboard on this with those unique 'dice' inlays. Slight pitting on the original frets, some buckle wear on the back. These don't bob up on the market all that often, I implore you (if you can) to come in and have a play...it's a very cool guitar. Made in the USA. Comes with the original dark green lined black Gretsch case with warranty card and brochure.
