Description
Mid-80s Japanese ’52 reissue from the TLC-52 line.
Ash body in blonde with flat head screws and all the right early reissue details that made these models such a hit when they first landed.
Condition is genuinely good for age.
There is a noticeable chip near the output jack which gives it some honesty, but the rest of the guitar has worn in nicely rather than being knocked around.
The neck is a standout, with subtle flame through the maple and a very comfortable, broken-in feel in the hand. Tonally it is dry, direct and articulate.
Plenty of snap and bite on the bridge pickup with a clear, rounded neck sound that stays usable rather than woolly. It feels lively and responsive, and the 3.9kg weight sits in a great zone for a Tele of this style.
A well-aged, well-balanced Japanese reissue that captures the appeal of a classic blackguard without feeling precious.
