Description
1989 Martin D-28P.
What does the 'P' stand for? Pumpkin? Penguin? Pestilence? ...
If you guessed 'Performance' you'd be right!... yes folks, this is a highly uncommon neo-vintage D-28 with a Performance Taper neck profile. Pestilence was briefly considered but failed to pass comittee.
While you do see quite a few current production models featuring this neck profile, it's mighty uncommon on something of this vintage (or anything pre 2000's for that matter!)
It's a fast, friendly and comfortable neck profile that someone is going to adore.
This thing is a great-sounding D-28 by any measure.
To my ears it's opened up enough to have a really crisp and tight low end which I think can be hard to come by in an East Indian Rosewood dreadnought.
Truss rod (yes it has one), frets, neck geometry are all good.
End pin is replaced, some binding has been reglued.
Come have a play, this is a good'un. Includes the original Martin hardcase (although it's missing a latch).
