Beautiful plaintop 58 from a really strong production window for the Custom Shop. The 58 neck carve on this one is spot on. The washed Cherry VOS finish has a great look to it. Period looks and specs down to the smaller details (i.e. holly headstock veneer, vintage sized bushings, true mother of pearl inlay etc).
Plays clean with a warm, rounded voice and has a great overall balance. A few minor bumps here and there, just enough to let you feel comfortable enough to really hook in. Hot take (and maybe upsetting take): I'm betting these 00's CS guitars are going to become a thing unto their own. The pricing and less than consistent quality of current Custom Shop instruments from Gibson under Tom Murphy (particularly what we're getting here in Australia) leave a lot to be desired.
