Description
We are pleased to have in stock the Collector's choice #38, the 'Chicken Shack Burst' In unplayed condition and still with the tags attached to the headstock, in case and complete.
Here is the lowdown (and more) from Gibson:
"The Collector's Choice™ Series makes it possible to own a recreation of a specific guitar.
Once again working with a specific instrument and its owner allowed Gibson Custom full access so that it could be analysed, digitally scanned and measured from every conceivable perspective.
Now Gibson Custom can faithfully recreate the individual personality of a specific serial number, thereby bringing its magic within reach of a limited number of owners.
The details of finish, material, wear and tone in the Collector's Choice™ range are as near to a perfect re-creation of each guitar's current condition as is humanly possible.
The earliest 1960 Les Pauls were essentially 1959 'Bursts, featuring the same beefy neck profile, thin sunburst finish and, in the case of the rarest of them, like the "Chicken Shack 'Burst", an amazing flame maple top.
Collector's Choice #38 is a striking replica of original serial #0 0205, a well known vintage Burst among those early 1960 Pauls built to 1959 specs. Drew Berlin, one of its proud owners, refers to these as "double O's" and has worked extensively with Gibson Custom to help recreate one of the most visually and sonically amazing guitars in the Collector's Choice range.
The "Chicken Shack 'Burst" is named after the famous & influential British Blues band founded by Stan Webb in 1965. Stan played the guitar live through the 1980's, before it was sold to Vic DaPra in the early 9Os and shipped to America.
Its eye-popping flame maple top and powerful bluesy tone caught the attention of players, collectors and publishers alike. It's been featured in The Beauty of the Burst, Sunburst Alley and, most recently, Burst Believers Ill.
Reissues were amongst the last to be made by Gibson, in a very limited run that was ultimately determined by the availability of qualifying (and very intense) flamed maple required to create it. 300 were planned, around 40 were shipped.'
