c1900 Washburn Model 123 '1897 Style' Parlour Guitar (USA, Brazilian Rosewood, HSC)

SOLD!

Description

Yes, this guitar if over 130 years old. So old that technically, it became an antique instrument 35 years ago. Gorgeously kept USA made parlour guitar. Exceptionally lightweight construction with a wide grained spruce top and Brazillian rosewood back and sides. Slotted headstock with 3 a side tuners. Beautiful herringbone rosette with really charming multi-ply red and black purfling. Ivory bound body and fingerboard. No cracks or repairs. Guitar has had all the necessary work done to keep it playing too - that being a neck reset and a new bridge (original bridge is included in the case and is of identical proportions to the replacement). Fingerboard has a very flat radius and bar frets typical of turn of the century instruments. Action is sitting at a very comfortable 2.5mm on both the bass and treble sides. Made in USA. Includes a hardcase. Serial number as stamped on top of headstock and in soundhole label: 140854. This one is such a charmer. For those who haven't played an instrument of this age, I highly recommend coming down to the shop and hitting it with your fingers... a really cool transformative time machine this thing is!
