Alert!!! '65 Dove! Cooo!
Gibson's top of the line Dreadnought when produced. Great condition for such an old bird that has seen some real play. The tone is punchy (and zingy and intonated, thanks to the adjustable bridge) song that sounds great under virtually all playing conditions, but especially under mics. The iconic pickguard is in great condition, waffleback tuners are original.
This famous flame maple-backed square shoulder beauty introduced in the early ‘60s is intertwined with one of the most revolutionary decades in popular music history. Its maple back and sides and long scale produce the crisp, clear tone and projection all with all the honky midrange you could ever want.
If you're trying to build yourself an armoury (aivary?) of undefeatably classic recording guitars, you definitely don't want to let this one fly away. 1965 just keeps getting further and further away, and the number of wide nut Doves in the world stays the same... all the good pre '65 features, plus a natural top, plus a pricetag that starts with a 1, not a 2.
No cracks or breaks. Has once had an ouput jack installed (now filled), so some clear overspray would have been applied to this area. The overspray would be virtually undetectable should it not have been for the maple plug.
SN 337805 - places this Dove at '66 technically speaking but the neck and nut width are very much early '65 spec. We're pitching a custom order.
