Description

Does anyone like Torche?

Built some time between 2018 and 2020. Semi-hollow, neck-through, all T6061 billet Aluminium construction, polished neck and body with a textured back. The Standard is kind of a riff on the Travis Bean 1000 shape but a hair smaller and better balanced. 339-ish.

24.75" scale neck with the modern style headstock, 22 stainless medium jumbo frets, 12" radius, big dot inlays, and some of the loudest and meanest sounding pickups you'll ever hear in your life. 2 volumes, 2 tones, 3 way switch on the upper horn. NOS NASA thermex wire (yes really) inside, sprague caps, CTS pots/switch/output socket. EGC house-made bridge and sadles.

Absolutely monstrous sound when tuned down a little bit with big strings. Like a big angry tuning fork full of even-order harmonics, no deadspots, an infinite supply of string energy... if you want it. It'll also get quiet as a mouse without any compromise in tone or timbre. Very lively and reactive thing. Play it for a few minutes and you'll understand why certain people froth all-aluminium guitars (the author included)

Being aluminium, the neck itself is a truss rod. Relief is machined in, and can be controlled with string gauge. At the moment it's set up with 12s in C and more or less flat. Go down at least a gauge for standard. Or up a gauge if you want to play Tarpit Carnivore.

SN 2227, comes with an SKB 339 case. Weighs 4.6kg, a relative lightweight for one of these.
