1933 Gibson H-1 Mandola (USA, Natural, HSC)
Pretty tricky to find in this country, this is a Gibson Mandola from 1933.
Tuned C, G, D, A from low to high (as opposed to a Mandolin which is G, D, A, E).
Set up and ready to go, with a nice low action, age has certainly not wearied this instrument.
Featuring a solid carved top and back, ebony fingerboard.
Horizontal checking on the body, one small ding on the front face (not deep) and a small hole in the back of the headstock (possibly from a strap pin?)
Still room in the bridge to come down.
A touch of deterioration on the pickguard, but ultimately the guard is still in good condition considering the age of the instrument.
Overall in good condition, and made in the USA in the same year as Monopoly, the start of construction on the Golden Gate Bridge, and Franklin D. Roosevelt's famous quote "the only thing to fear is fear itself'
SN 91338.
